How Irish are you on this St. Patrick's Day?

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today is a day that the Irish and those who want to drink celebrate! Their is a rich history involved and a few facts worth reviewing.

Click HERE to take a test and see just how Irish you are (hint: divorce was made legal in Ireland in 1995).

Don't forget one of these toasts as you drink yourself a pint of Guinness today:

SLAINTE!

  1. May your fire be as warm as the weather is cold.
  2. May you have the hindsight to know where you've been,The insight to know where you are,and the foresight to know when you've gone too far.
  3. May you have warm words on a cold evening,A full moon on a dark night,And the road downhill all the way to your door.
  4. May God bring good health to your enemies enemies
  5. May you never make an enemyWhen you could make a friend–Unless you meet a fox among your chickens.
  6. May you be in heaven one half hour before the devil knows you're dead.
  7. May you never forget what is worth remembering,Or remember what is best forgotten.

We Gradumacated!

We did it! After 4 weeks straight and 12 hours in a classroom, Melissa and I completed our Baby Prep Class / Lamaze / Fundamentals of Birth or whatever you want to call it class. Now, in this classroom setting everyone who signs up passes (at least I don't think there is a possibility to fail) so "gradumacating" isn't all that special but I'm sure the experience will prove to be very valuable come late April (or early May). I won't go into details but I would say we learned a lot. I even got to try some "labor" breathing myself last night while Melissa "coached" me as my hand was in a bucket of ice cubes. Let's just say I'm glad I get to play coach as opposed to the other way around!

As a recap, we had 7 couples in our class and 6 were pretty talkative. It was funny that 4 couples are due with a 3-4 day window and at least 3 of the 6 are having baby showers this weekend. I guess that isn't too crazy considering everyone is on the 9-month pregnancy timeline but it sure felt pretty crazy.

Anyway, today marks 34 weeks for the pregnancy and completion of the class means we are right around the corner from having a little one. Sunday we are having a couples / family shower here in Boulder. It will be great to see everyone and are looking forward to a very nice day (60s and sunny in mid March works for me). This does mean I won't be doing any St. Patty's Day runs (and the always fun ensuing beer drinking days). Oh well, I've got a fridge full of Guinness and that will have to do the trick!

Our newest CD - Bob Marley (baby edition)

Well, many changes are going on at our home these days. Most notably is a baby's room that has come along quite nicely we have accumulated quite a few items that I never knew existed (baby items) and a few CD's for our baby. As part of that, we picked out some items and I had real say in one very important item: A baby rendition CD of Bob Marley songs! (a total "must have" for new parents) Seeing that this CD is so relaxing, Melissa has taken to listening to it when she goes to bed. I will admit it is quite catchy and has some really cool versions of Bob Marley's "Best of" work.

I always seem to catch the end of the CD by the time I get to bed, just in time for Redemption Song. And as the CD claims "No baby, no cry. Bob Marley´s lilting melodies will gently sway your little one to sleep. The perfect antidote to restless nights, these comforting renditions will will bring peace back to bed time. Could you be lulled?"
